Hey guys! Hope you're all well. Today I'm talking to you about my favourite breakfast smoothie which takes under two minutes to make! Yes! That's right, under two minutes! Amazing right?
As a student, I usually find myself rushing around, getting my things together for my lectures and sometimes find it difficult to actually find time to sit down to eat breakfast.
First things first, you must NEVER skip breakfast! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it literally breaks your fast that you have been experiencing when you have been sleeping. Without breakfast, our bodies aren't prepared for the day ahead as they lack the energy needed and for those of you who are maybe wanting to lose weight...well if you're skipping breakfast, that is adding to your weight gain!
I'm well aware that the debate around how important breakfast really is, is a very contested one. You hear one health expert telling you that it's essential, and another claiming that it isn't that important, but personally, I'm going to stick with my own thoughts regarding breakfast, and hopefully encourage you to not skip it!
Anyway, onto the real stuff now...
So you're busy from the minute you wake up, you're getting ready, trying to find things and you have no time for breakfast so you just skip it right? NO!
No one has ever said that you have to EAT breakfast, you can drink it instead! Sometimes this is a much more productive way to ensure that you don't skip it!
You may be sat reading this thinking, 'Well I always have my daily coffee on the way to work to give me energy'...well put that coffee down, and pick up a blender, because I'm about to change the way you think about breakfast!
So you're needing a breakfast that's going to help fuel you for the day ahead, one that's healthy, low in dangerous sugars, and of course, one that tastes gorgeous right? I present to you...the banana and strawberry smoothie!
This is my daily breakfast smoothie when I'm in a rush and I know that you'll love it...and hey...you're even including some of your five-a-day!
1) Peel and chop a medium banana, I like my banana chunks to be quite small as I find them easier to blend.
2) Put your banana chunks into the blender, and chop four large strawberries. I usually chop my strawberries in half, but sometimes given the size, I'll go for quarters.
3) Place your chopped strawberries in the blender and grab some almond milk. Okay, before you say that you don't like almond milk, there's literally no taste difference unless you purchase a flavoured one! Before trying almond milk, I was anxious and wasn't really feeling great about it in case I hated it, but I honestly cannot taste a difference between almond milk and semi-skimmed milk.
4) Pour 200ml of almond milk into the blender.
5) Blend for 30-45 seconds.
6) GOAL! And right in front of you, is your delicious, healthy smoothie to help your body prepare for the day! Grab a glass or a bottle, pour it in, and taste something that'll blow your mind!
